“You have to feel how the material thinks,” Prouvé was convinced. His appeal was to continue thinking constructively and creatively. This approach continues to impress us today and is being consistently continued at Tecta and carried over into the new century. An example of this is the M21 Table. It is, so to speak, a collaborative effort: André le Stang, a freelancer of Prouvé’s, drew the organic table shape from which we took the original dimensions. The circular recesses in the base frame are also inspired by Prouvé – the diameter comes from his doors and Axel Bruchhäuser used it to shape the base frame. Incidentally, the idea for these “views” came from none other than the British architect Alison Smithson. And so a workpiece was created entirely in accordance with Prouvé’s conviction: no one can do anything alone.
