Description
This is a Saarinen Full-Back Executive Chair, Model 68, originally designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in 1950. This example dates to the 1960s. It has many of the features of the more commonly seen Model 71A, only this silhouette omits the back vent. It features a four-point base in chromed steel, and it has an upholstered seat and back. The piece was reupholstered at some point, as evidenced by the upholsterer’s tag affixed under the seat.
This chair measures 24.25 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 32.5 inches high. It has a 19-inch seat height. The upholstery shows some wear, though it remains in relatively good condition. The foam is still quite soft, and there are a few marks on the fabric. The tops of the arms show fading and signs of use. The base has some errant scratches, but presents nicely. Overall, this chair is in good condition. Please see photos.
